Hello, my name is CARISSA-MARIE ABAZIA.
I received my BA from University of California, Santa Barbara where I studied in the Communications and Global Studies departments. I developed my nonfiction and fiction writing at University of California, Berkeley and formed a profound enthusiasm for meditation, mindfulness and balanced living during this time.
At a very early age, I started working for my father at his mortgage brokerage firm Cypress Financial Mortgage & Investments, Inc. where I quickly learned the importance of having good credit. After graduating college, I obtained my Real Estate Salesperson License and processed loans for some of Northern California’s top lenders.
In 2010, I took a short break from the mortgage industry to further develop my sales and marketing skills. I worked as a Communications Manager for more than 50 international wine and spirits brands for one of the world’s largest wine companies. Over the course of seven years, I established a robust national network of media and influencer contacts.
I also worked closely with the nation’s top orthopedic and neurosurgeons as a Spinal and Biologics Sales Consultant in a territory that covered more hospitals than any other spine team in the United States. An incredibly hard job — 90-hour work weeks, trauma calls in the middle of the night and an immense pressure to perform — I learned an invaluable lesson: I would persevere under any given circumstance.
Fast forward to 2017. I have come full circle to the work that I love: finance and real estate. I am committed to serving the community and helping people establish a sense of place and belonging. I care deeply about people and believe that the measure of a person’s life is the effect they have on others. In some small way, I hope to help people achieve their dreams from buying a first home to establishing a college fund for their children.
In January 2017, I launched my website as a way to share information about the mortgage industry and document the things I cherish.
I was born and raised in Sonoma County, CA, the heart of wine country. I am a Loan Consultant at Summit Funding, Inc. for The Abazia Group.
Driven by my passion to help others, I am active in community affairs. Over the past few years, I have worn many hats: Council Member of the Santa Rosa Chapter of the North Bay Association of Realtors (NorBAR); Member of the NorBAR Speaker & Panel Committee; Member of the Sonoma County Alliance; Board Member of the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professional’s Network; Secretary of the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce‘s MetroConnect Direct Referral Network; and Volunteer for Sonoma Land Trust.
As an American – Swedish citizen, I have cultivated a passion for language, food and wine through my international studies and travels to Sweden, Italy, Britain, France, Denmark, Norway, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama and the Netherlands. Fluent in Swedish, I travel to Stockholm frequently to visit my family and close friends.
In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, running, golfing, playing guitar, painting, reading, traveling, savoring good wine, and sipping aged scotch with my beloveds.
I look forward to working with you!
